Here is a link to an exciting collection of stories you can listen to at school, at home, on the go - anywhere really. The link is also on the sidebar of this page so you can find it quickly later.
I have already listened to Fighting Mrs Greedie and if you liked The Three Bears (Sort of) you will love Little Red Riding Hood (not quite). Now I am starting 100 Ride Bus Ticket by Margaret Mahy, which is reminding me a bit of the Harry Potter series. If you have a device you can bring to school next week you will have the opportunity to spend some time finding your own favourite stories. Which story will be your favourite? Who could you recommend it to? What do you do with packaging peanuts? Tōtara 25 decided to put them to good use on Friday by creating a variety of sculptures. It was great to see everyone using the knowledge from the Science Alive sessions earlier in the week. Here is a selection of finished pieces. You are welcome to come in and have a go yourself before school next week.
The world is full of amazing structures - natural and man-made. Today we looked at t building called the Sagrada Familia, a Basilica in Barcelona, Spain which I think looks like a combination of man-made and natural. Here are links where you can take a virtual 3D tour of the outside amazing space and the inside. The clip embedded here shows what the finally finished structure will look like.
It has been a hive of activity in Tōtara 25 this week as we started constructing our marble run. We decided to go big and use the whole classroom. Although it took a bit longer than expected we now have the run going around the whole room - and will probably be adding to it over the next few days. Here are a few photos taken by Felix of our build session on Thursday afternoon. Come and check it out for yourself. Well done to everyone who competed in the Cross Country Race on Wednesday. Special congratulations go to Otto who won the Year 4 boys race and to Katrina who came second in the Year 3 girls race.
